Frequently Asked Questions

  • We accept credit cards, debit cards, and ACH payments. We do not accept cash, checks, or peer-to-peer payment apps.

  • Some services are set up as evergreen recurring services, while others renew seasonally. Renewal details are outlined in your quote or service agreement.

  • No. Services can be completed as long as the property is accessible.

  • Mowing is completed in schedule order. Weather delays shift all mowing days forward. For all other services, customers will be notified if a visit needs to be rescheduled.

  • Time-sensitive updates are typically communicated by text, while non-urgent updates are sent by email.

General

  • Seven applications are recommended each season to properly support turf health and seasonal conditions. Program scope may be adjusted based on budget and goals.

  • Yes. We limit pesticide use as much as possible, but still recommend allowing applications to fully dry before re-entering treated areas. This typically takes 2–3 hours.

  • An invoice is sent or the card on file is charged upon completion of each individual application.

  • Customers are notified the day before service and again when we are on the way to the property. Treated areas will be marked at the curb line with a Jersey Worms marker.

  • Most lawns show significant improvement within the first year. Lawns typically reach their full potential in years two to three, depending on starting conditions.

  • Lawns should be mowed regularly at a height of 3–4 inches and watered consistently, with increased watering during periods of heat stress.

Lawn Care

  • Compost topdressing is ideal for lawns with compacted soil, thinning turf, or uneven areas, and it also provides meaningful benefits for healthy lawns by improving soil structure and long-term turf performance. It may not be appropriate for lawns with significant grading or drainage issues, where corrective work is needed first.

  • Compost topdressing improves soil structure, root development, and turf density over the long term. While some benefits may be noticed after service is completed, the primary value comes from building healthier soil that supports stronger turf over time. For best results, compost topdressing is most effective when paired with our ongoing lawn care program.

  • Compost topdressing requires significant material, equipment, and labor. Pricing is based on property size, site conditions, and the full process required to achieve meaningful soil improvement, not just material spreading.

  • In some cases, yes. If homeowner preparation is agreed upon in advance, we can provide an updated quote and schedule a specific service date to accommodate that work. Clear preparation instructions will be provided ahead of time. Any required prep must be completed to standard prior to the scheduled service date. If preparation is incomplete or not completed to standard, the service will either be completed in full at the homeowner’s expense or rescheduled, which may result in a rescheduling fee.

  • A quarter to half inch application is intentional. At our standard rate of one cubic yard per 1,000 square feet, the average coverage is about a third of an inch. Additional material is applied in low areas or divot spots to improve leveling and turf recovery. This depth improves soil structure, organic matter, and root health without smothering existing grass.

  • After topdressing, the lawn should be watered regularly to help the compost settle and support seed germination. Mowing should be paused for several weeks and avoided until new seed has established, then resumed at the proper height. Aftercare timing may vary based on weather and lawn conditions.

Topdressing

  • Pricing shown is the total seasonal price. A full season is broken down into 9 equal monthly payments. A credit card or ACH payment method MUST be on file and will be charged on the 1st of the month, (a receipt will be emailed). Should you rather not put a credit card/ACH payment on file, you may opt to pre-pay the total seasonal fee by check or cash in full.  Failure to pay by the due date may result in a pause in service until the invoice is settled and no refunds will be given for missed cuts due to lack of payment. *No credit card fees will be added.

  • Weekly visits generally include lawn mowing and edging as needed to maintain a neat and well-kept appearance, weather permitting. Services may vary based on seasonal growth and site conditions. Due to weather conditions, mowing may occasionally be delayed/missed.  We understand that some lawns do not need servicing each week during potential drought season. During this time we will continue to blow off the driveway and pick up sticks on the lawn, should it be necessary.

  • Removal of leaves/debris in ornamental/decorative mulch beds, useable turf areas and hardscape surfaces.  Note: wooded areas are not included in cleanups.  Spring clean-ups will be completed in March/April (may be completed during weekly visits or when weather permits).  Fall clean-ups will be serviced during visits in November/December, (weather permitting); your property will be clean by the end of that time.  Should your property require debris removal, the cost is built into your monthly pricing.

  • Should you need to reschedule a service, call/text the office at 973.370.2120‍, with at least one week’s notice and we will do out best to accommodate.  Routes will be optimized on or around holiday

  • If turf height does not require cutting, mowing will be skipped to protect the lawn. No price adjustment is made, as service scheduling and availability remain unchanged.

  • We do not weed-whack/mow around lawn decorations.

Landscaping

  • For snow events, our trigger is 1 inch of accumulation. For freezing rain, we may apply salt at our discretion to help reduce slip hazards and manage liability.

  • In most cases, service is completed within 24 hours of the storm ending. If you need priority service, we’re happy to accommodate whenever possible.

  • Yes — salt is required for residential snow removal. It’s a key part of reducing slip hazards and keeping surfaces as safe as possible during snow and ice conditions.

  • We use salt and magnesium de-icing products, depending on the conditions and what’s best for safe, effective results.

  • No — we do not clean snow off vehicles. Our snow removal service is focused on clearing driveways, walkways, and access areas.

  • For the best results, we recommend parking in the garage or as close to the house as possible before service. This helps us clear the driveway more efficiently and reduces the chance of packed snow being left behind.
